frX Basic

Offering convenient desktop functionality that many customers prefer, frX Basic is a complete EHL tool, considering line contact, point contact, surface roughness, thermal models, and non-Newtonian lubricants. Analysis results include: surface roughness metrics, dry contact pressure, subsurface stresses, EHL fluid pressure, film thickness, flash temperature, and friction shear.

Surface Roughness

Use the built-in frX toolkit to convert 3D profilometer measurements into mathematical representations of the contact surfaces. This approach is vastly superior to typical 2D stylus measurements, and is highly encouraged for any critical EHL analysis.

Shear Stress

Subsurface Shear Stress based on EHL contact mechanics is an important factor to consider for fatigue and durability responses of rolling/sliding surfaces.

Film Thickness
